    Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

    Start your budget Mikumi safari with a drive from your hotel in Dar es Salaam at 06:00 am to Mikumi National Park (5 hours drive). ). Stop en route for a quick hot lunch before continuing with the drive. Enjoy an afternoon game drive safari in Mikumi national park until sunset.

    Mikumi is located 300 km from Dar es Saalam and is the most accessible park for those departing from Tanzania’s capital. Prominent features of the park are the Mikumi flood plain and the mountain ranges that rise on two sides of the park. Dinner and overnight: Mikumi Bandas.

    Day 2: Mikumi Safari & Return to Dar es Salaam

    After breakfast, pack your picnic lunch in readiness for a morning safari in Mikumi National Park. Visit the Mwanambogo water hole, Chamgore (place of the python), and Mkata flood plain; rich in wildlife.

    You will encounter elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, wildebeest, eland, and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest. Lion and wild dogs are among the carnivores common here. Towards the southern end of the flood plain live families of yellow baboon. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded in the park. Many are Eurasian migrants who stay between October and April. After lunch, start your drive back to Dar es salaam.
