The second day of your Tanzania camping safari will take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, a candidate for the new Seven Wonders of the World. The Ngorongoro crater supports a year-round resident population of a variety of wildlife, It is an attraction in its own right and one of the most famous safari attractions in Tanzania.
Finish your 3 day camping safari in Tanzania with a visit to Tarangire national park, also known as the “Land of the Giants”. Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s most underrated park, Tarangire is famous for its dense wildlife population, huge elephant herds, and baobab trees.
What to Expect on this 3 day Tanzania Camping Tour
After breakfast, start your Tanzania adventure camping safari with a drive to Lake Manyara National Park which although is one of the smaller parks in Tanzania, it also contains some of the most diverse habitats of all the Tanzanian parks with its towering mahogany trees and giant figs, a picnic lunch box will be provided.
The varied ecosystem consists of groundwater forests, acacia woodland and open grassland along the lakeshore and sustains a wealth of wildlife, including lion, elephant, leopard, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and much more wildlife.
The park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland between the lake and the Rift Valley. It is also an ornithologists’ paradise, with over 400 species of birds recorded.
You will spend the night at a camp with great views of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara itself, Migombani campsite.
After breakfast, you depart for a tour of the Ngorongoro crater. The drive commences with the 600 m descent to the crater floor, a magnificent natural amphitheater. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world.
The crater supports a year-round resident population of a variety of wildlife. It is also the home to the “Big 5”, lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant, rhino, which can all be spotted in one day.
At the crater floor, you will have no trouble spotting many species of plain animals – wildebeest, zebra, reedbuck, Thompson gazelle and many more. Stop for a picnic lunch on the crater floor. Return for dinner and overnight at camp, Migombani campsite.
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire national park to arrive in time for an amazing day of game viewing, picnic lunch will be provided. Tarangire is a park of giant baobab trees, huge herds of elephants, rolling Savannah, and acacia parkland.
The Tarangire national park is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular in the dry season between June and September. It is during this period that thousands of animals – wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, and oryx migrate from the dry Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River in search of water.
The predators – lion, leopard, and others – as is the custom in the savanna follow closely by. Birds are also abundant here and over 550 species have been recorded. Later in the afternoon, drive back to Arusha.
